The Interview A Interview With Ryan Scobey - 1169 Words
Summary: On January 09, 2017 at approximately 1500 hours, I (Art Lindsay) conducted an interview with Ryan Scobey. The purpose of the interview was to learn if Scobey conspired with former employee William Beckstein in a fraudulent disbursement scheme. During the interview Scobey admitted to participating in the scheme. The interview was witnessed by Elise Ben-Yair, BuzzFeed VP People. Narrative/Investigation: Scobey was interview in conjunction an ongoing investigation, into fraudulent disbursement schemes conducted by Will Beckstein a former BuzzFeed employee. The purpose of the interview was to learn if Scobey was a witness, victim or co-conspirator. I asked if he received any training when came to BuzzFeed as to how to process purchase he made for productions. He told me he wrote the manual on how to process purchases for BuzzFeed. I then shift my questions towards my investigation and asked him to explain the process for using his company credit card. He corrected me and said he does not have a company credit card but a CASHnet card. I asked how that worked. Ryan outlined the process as follows. BuzzFeed loads an amount of money on the card. Ryan said his weekly limit is 50K He makes purchases for various needs for BuzzFeed connected to a production He submits via BuzzFeedââ¬â¢s billing system the expenditures, and must assign every purchase to a project code Last he submits the receipts for each expenditure with a project code to his supervisor The purpose of having Scobey explain the process was to lock him into how expenditures are handled, and to see if he understood the process as I had read it. The next portion of the interview I did most of the talking. There was an explanation on who I am and what I do at BuzzFeed. I explained how losses occur, how losses are investigated and then I proved Scobey with reasons why people make mistakes. I made what is call a soft accusation.
